PowerHunch! eBook Marcia Emery PhD

7.5/10
Powerhunch explains in a very simple language how intuition works, which sort of questions you can ask, how and when to ask them, and which sort of approaches you can use to help in your decision making or to answer precise questions in your life, no matter how important or trivial they might be.

Stress blocks our logical response to decision making, so intuition is a helping hand. Besides, developing our intuition leads to developing our creativity, so we can just use intuition for artistic purposes.

Intuition is nothing that some special enlightened people have, we all have it, it is a matter of learning how to cultivate it. The book gives a good advice on how to fire up your creative juices, learn when to risk, learn when the best time to do something, how to figure out somebody's dynamics and to solve romantic, social and work relationships, and how to find balance, release stress, and promote self-healing, and to how to get you relaxed to favour the intuitive spark.

Dr Emery is a pioneer in the field of intuition and has a great knowledge about how intuition works and how we can use it. She provides the reader with a a good deal of fun and easy-to-remember exercises to get your intuition flowing. She uses a mix of intuitive exercises to open our body, mental, emotional and spiritual channels, and mixes them up with dreamwork, synchronicity, and visualisation techniques. My favourite exercises are the Yes or No button, the Powershift (which reminds me greatly of Jungian techniques for dream interpretation), the intuitive timepiece, and the metaphor exercise. All the breathing exercises are very good and you can use them to develop you intuition or just to relax.

THE NOT SO GOOD
> Powerhunch has a chitchat blogging tone that can be innervating for some readers. It does not favour the author either because it dilutes her wisdom in a soup of blah blah blah, so her enthusiasm appears as superficial rambling. Pity because many of the techniques Emery mentions are stupendous.
> Besides, the book has an endless number of real life examples, a good deal of them totally unnecessary. I enjoy real life examples and the description of how a real person deals with a specific personal intuition clue, but if the examples are not to the point or too many, they become a bother not something inspirational or enjoyable.
> I find shocking a PhD recipient making statements of this sort: Physicists have demonstrated the existence of eleven dimensions. (loc. 147-152) So, who exactly? Which are these eleven dimensions?

In cases like this I tend to blame the editor/s. Because, it is the duty of the editor to remove unnecessary fluff and demand from the author more substance, remove repeated information, help with the structuring of the work, advise a reference note system when necessary and so forth.

> Also, the headings of the book are humongous in size, some of them occupy a lot of space, so they become another filler!

IN SHORT
An entertaining light introduction to develop your intuition based on Emery's course of the same name, Powerhunch! The breathing exercises and many of the intuitive exercises in the book are excellent, so I recommend making flash cards on your Kindle, or manually to use them once you finish the book, so you don't have to go all over the book again.

MY ADVICE
If you are interested in developing your intuition, start with Powerhunch, and then read Laura Day and Sonia Choquette's books. Personally, I think that Laura Day's books Practical Intuition: How to Harness the Power of Your Instinct and Make It Work for You and How to Rule the World from Your Couch, take you to places that Emery's never does, and the same can be said of Sixth Sense: Unlocking Your Ultimate Mind Power. Some of the exercises that Emery offers in the book are also similar to those that Robert Moss recommends in his books, like his last one Sidewalk Oracles: Playing with Signs, Symbols, and Synchronicity in Everyday Life but she came first.

SAVE HALF THE MONEY
I paid almost 14 bucks for this ebook, but the same ebook in another edition is sold in Amazon at half the price, here: PowerHunch!.

PowerHunch! eBook Marcia Emery PhD Reviews

Dreams have a way of manifesting into reality - if you let them. PowerHunch provided an easy, down-to-earth guideline for capturing dreams, hunches and "gut feelings". Once "captured", it then gave suggestions on what to do with the knowledge. If one is at all interested in unraveling the mystery's we each create for ourselves, I'd recommend this book as a tool.
Dr. Marcia Emery is an intuitive trail blazer who has provided in her newest book PowerHunch an extraordinary tool for those individuals seeking to develop their intuitive powers. With the skill of a gifted storyteller, she gives examples of everyday experiences that verify this innate ability that we all share and offers exercises to assist one in developing their own intuitiveness. PowerHunch is required reading for all of us facing the rewards and challenges of living in the twenty first century.
Emery gives a nuts and bolts guide to harness the power of intuition towards making great choices and learning to trust your hunch. Packed with practical information and other useful ways to discipline and train your mind without the woo-woo theology, this is a power packed book on expanding your capacity to access wisdom and make the most of the present moment.

A wonderful complement to this book are resources written by Penney Peirce, Laura Day, Dr. Mona Lisa Schultz, Dr. Judith Orloff, and Lynn Robinson, among others.
This book expanded my concept of intuition, and gives me tools to access intuition through inquiry rather than just responding to hunches and promptings. It has exercises and ways to practice this inquiry on a regular basis. Great book!!!
A totally new approach to life, particularly on making decisions.
You'll surely love the exercises in developing your power hunch!
My husband ordered this for us to read and before either of us could begin, our son borrowed it and has thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend.
